Building community at the speed of trust. I had the opportunity to share our journey of the magic and joy that can emerge through the tough times and good when you invite in the passions, skills and gifts of community and create space to welcome the stranger.

A massive thank you to Sam Moon and The Neighbourhood Democracy Movement for asking me to share. This truly was a wonderful life-giving conversation. Sam held the space with gentle Insightful questioning and possibility focused interviewing. Sam then carefully curated the interview into the lovely story.
NDM have a whole group of folk who’ve been practicing the art of generative journalism. They are asking a very good question: “What if neighbourhoods across the world could share knowledge and learn from each other to build powerful commons where they are?”
They are inviting responses to questions like:
- What is it that is giving you a spring in your step? What are you most hopeful about in community life?
- How is this making you feel?
- What are the possibilities you are seeing?
- What is the courage you need to take you in that direction?
- What is the best thing that could happen?
- What would you like, want or need from the community to make your next steps as wonderfully successful as they possibly could be?
- Who do you know who is working on something you admire and whose story deserves to be shared?
I love good questions and love even more the opportunity to have a life-giving conversation. I think these are awesome questions. We definitely will be looking for opportunity to ask these in our neighbourhood. We really look forward to reading more stories told to Sam, and see the ripple effects of asking these questions and sharing the responses.
